On a dark night filled with even darker magics, an insane cult attempts to give Nightmare Moon a body and life of her own, utterly separate from Princess Luna. But, when the spell is interrupted by Celestia, something unexpected is created.
Now, a little black alicorn filly named Nyx finds herself living under the care of Twilight Sparkle, only to be haunted by memories and emotions from her past. Is she Nightmare Moon reborn or is she simply a doppelganger with a soul and mind of her own? Can Twilight Sparkle protect Nyx from those who refuse to see past her dragon eyes and black coat?
Or, will Nyx be forced to inherit the sins that may not even be hers and become the greatest evil Equestria has ever known?
I created a torrent download for the audiobook for those of you interested. It can be found here: http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/10296038/Past_Sins_Audiobook_-_Penstroke_Batty_Gloom
So I am not even finished with the reading and I am in love with both the story and the reading. I am currently in Chapter 10 which by the way has a cliff hanger that made me want to choke myself lol. In my opinion this story thus far has been the best fanfic I have yet to read. I prefer this to Fallout, My Little Dashie, or any other audio book on this site because the level of emotion and attachment you develop with Nyx is something that wasn't present in other books. Parts of this story made me cry because it was so emotional to see the hurt this character went through or to see the simple joys that she experienced during her childhood. As for the reading, when I first started on this reading I didn't like Illya Leonov's voice because it was so unique and different than anyone else, but as I progressed through the reading I came to prefer it. Just, if you start this story and don't like his voice at first give it a chance, listen to a few chapters, I promise it will grow on you like it did me. I recommend this to anyone because of the attachment you will develop with Nyx and the struggles she goes through. A must read 5 star fic. It is my favorite by a long shot!
Thank you Breena. Though that was one of my earlier works and was not technically as well done as some of the newer ones, it is a story I love and I put a lot of love into recording it. It means a lot to me that you enjoyed it. -Illya
I compiled an archive and tagged it (Chapter titles, subtitles are chapter numbers, and track numbers, plus artist as Pen Stroke, and Illya as the Contributing Artist). I also edited the cover image for the book, adding in a bit of extra text, to make it a functional Audiobook cover.
Hopefully I can keep this up indefinitely, but it's nearly 1.8GB, and my Dropbox is only about 8GB and this will put my usage to over 5GB I think.
Incidentally, the narrator reminds me a bit of Stephen Fry. Obviously not the same person, but at the same time it does sort of feel familiar at times.
